Georgie’s Story
My inspiration for the Body Empowerment Camp came from my own personal experience with my relationship with food and my body through my teenage years, my twenties, becoming a mum, and now being a mum of four young kids.
I see the negative impact that the beauty and weight loss industry, media, and social media has on adults, and our younger generations. Yes, we have come a long way in the past 20 years but there is still so much emphasis put on our appearance and physical body, which continues to cause unnecessary stress, worry, and anxiety. More often than not, this leads to disordered eating, exercise and eating disorders, and an unhealthy relationship with our bodies.
I had an incredibly frustrating relationship with food and my body.
During my 20s, I experienced a plethora of health problems relating to my relationships with food and my body. For years, my erratic menstrual cycle switched from heavy, incredibly painful periods to months without them at all. Eventually diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), I lived the next ten years with the accompanying pain and heartbreak. Frustrated and irritable, I felt that I couldn’t do anything, commit to anything, start anything. And when I did force myself to get up and keep moving, I experienced negativity in all my relationships.
Like so many of us, I turned to food as a way of finding comfort and exerting control. But bingeing on packets of M&M’s, ice cream, and anything sugary, led to pain, IBS, immense bloating, and a never-ending cycle of diarrhoea and constipation. It got so bad that I only ate macadamia nuts because my body rejected everything else. I chose to live in this pain, and this cycle, for a solid ten years.
Inner conflict was constant. I didn’t look how I thought I was ‘supposed’ to look. I couldn’t love the person in the mirror. So much thought and energy went into what I wore. I didn’t look good enough. I wasn’t skinny enough. I viewed any piece of clothing as some form of criticism.
I now have a beautiful and easy relationship with food and my body which has freed up so much mental space, in turn giving me more space for my children's emotional needs and to live out my mission helping women like you.
What I want for you is to experience this kind of beautiful and easy relationship with food and your body so you can free up mental space, giving you more time and energy to do more of what lights you up.
As a certified Health and Life Coach, Transformational Coach and Master Coach, trained and certified in Mindful Eating, Mindfulness, Body Image and Yoga, I help you transform your relationship with food and your body. I will give you the tools and resources to cope in the challenging times of life, so you can continue to treat your body and mind with respect, appreciation, and compassion.
